Superhero movie crossovers are all the rage, and when the smoke clears in 2020, the DCEU might be the king of this concept. We know all of the iconic DC Comics characters will unite for the two-part Justice League movie. And Cyborg will team with Barry Allen in The Flash. But one long-anticipated brawl we might not see until the second phase of the DC movie universe is one between Black Adam and Superman. While Dwayne Johnson definitely wants to see these two characters go to war, he promises it won't happen in the first Shazam! movie.

Shazam! is bringing up the rear of the DCEU, and doesn't hit theaters until 2019. Though, The Rock has teased that it could arrive earlier. The movie is actually coming from Warner Bros.' sister studio New Line, but Johnson has confirmed in past interviews that the movie is definitely part of the DCEU, and will incorporate other franchise characters into the mix. But apparently not Kal-El right out of the gate. Here's what the WWE Superstar-turned-action icon had to say about the impending battle between Black Adam and Superman. He reveals this on his personal Twitter page.

"Won't happen in the first movie, but nothing would make me happier. He's got it comin'."

Dwayne Johnson has been talking about Shazam! since as far back as 2007, when he first said he was interested in the project on the set of Get Smart. And it will have taken more than a decade to see the superhero adventure actually reach the big screen. As of now, there isn't too much information about Shazam. Johnson is the only confirmed cast member at this time, and there are no plot details to go off of. It has been rumored in the past that Black Adam might join the Justice League.

The Rock does star as Black Adam, the main villain who has become an anti-hero in the more recent DC Comics. While Superman and Black Adam have gone at it on the printed page, not too many fans were expecting this to happen in the first Shazam! movie. But there is no telling what DC Comics character might actually wind up in the finished product. And it should be noted that The Rock only says that Superman and Black Adam won't fight. That's not to say Henry Cavill might show up for a Clark Kent cameo.

While Dwayne Johnson has teased that Shazam! could see an earlier release date than intended, he does have a pretty full slate ahead of him heading into the next decade. This summer, he stars opposite Kevin Hart in the action comedy Central Intelligence. Later this summer, the pair will reunite for a remake of Jumanji. The Rock is also shooting Fast 8 this summer, where he'll reprise his iconic role as Hobbs. He also has another season of HBO's Ballers on the horizon, and he will star in the video game adaptation Rampage, Disney's Jungle Cruise based on the popular Disneyland ride, and a remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
