Sensates by their nature are a threat to secrecy. They must band together and fight for their survival. See how their epic journey unfolds in the new trailer for Sense8 Season 2, along with a new poster. The second season of Sense8 launches globally on Netflix on Friday, May 5, which was preceded by the Christmas Special that launched back in late December.

From renowned creative geniuses Lana Wachowski, Grant Hill (The Matrix, Cloud Atlas) and J. Michael Straczynski (Clint Eastwood's Changeling, World War Z), Netflix's Sense8 is centered around eight characters, from different parts of the world, who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by the experience. They become connected, able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, with access to each other's deepest secrets. Not only must the eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out why their lives are now in jeopardy.

In Season 2, dark forces continue to track the cluster of eight connected characters. The sensates will learn more about BPO, the secret organization searching for their cluster and others like them, and will work to protect themselves from this organization that is out to hunt and kill them. The Netflix streaming service issued a Season 2 renewal for this hit series on August 8, the same date that the eight main characters of the series share a birthday. There was also a report last month that, despite options on the entire cast expiring months ago, Netflix has reached out to the cast with new deals that would place the cast on hold until June, so a Season 3 renewal decision is expected to be made before then.

The eight main characters in Sense8 are Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Kala (Tina Desai), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Sun (Doona Bae), Will (Brian J. Wright) and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt). The cast is rounded out by Terrence Mann, Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Aml Ameen and Freema Agyeman. Ben Cole has signed on to play a new sensate named Todd, who longs to be normal, rejecting the gifts he's been born with. It isn't clear if there are more new cast members that have yet to be announced.

Even if Netflix does renew Sense8 for a third season, it isn't announced if the streaming service plans on producing another Sense8 Christmas Special as well, to bridge the gap between the second and third seasons. Lana Wachowski's sibling Lilly Wachowski stepped away from the day-to-day operations of this series, with Lana Wachowski, Grant Hill and J. Michael Straczynski serving as Executive Producers.
