It has been a very long time coming, but finally, Samurai Jack fans can look forward to a much deserved fifth season of the show, which will arrive very soon. Adult Swim has been teasing us for quite some time about the new season, but they have finally revealed the firm premiere date for the long-awaited revival. We can now definitively say that Samurai Jack season 5 is officially set to debut on Saturday, March 11.

The new season of Samurai Jack was officially announced last year by Adult Swim, but there hasn't been much said about it in the time since, leaving fans to wonder exactly how soon they will be able to feast their eyes on some new episodes. Recently, during a regular run of nightly programming, Adult Swim finally put the questions to bed and during one of their breaks, they addressed some Twitter queries about Samurai Jack season 5. In response to @hebelbagel, who said "Hey, stop ignoring questions about Samurai Jack. Is it still definitely happening? What's going on?" Adult Swim said "March 11th, 11:30 p.m. is what's going on." To further mess with the eager fans, they also addressed @cheekgod, who said "I thought Samurai Jack was supposed to come back," by quipping "What did we just say?"

So there you have it. Samurai Jack Season 5 is coming sooner rather than later, which is great news for those who never got the resolution they needed at the end of season 4. The new season will consist of ten episodes, which will hopefully offer a conclusion to the story, which is what was so frustrating about the show ending after four seasons initially. Jack, who is a samurai displaced in a time far in the future, was still trapped there at the end of season 4 and was still dealing with the evil demon Aku. At the end of season 4, nothing was really resolved and that left fans feeling very unsatisfied. What is perhaps most exciting is that it has been confirmed that Phil LaMarr, who voiced Jack in the original run, is returning to voice the character again in season 5.

Details on Samurai Jack Season 5 have been kept pretty guarded, but a few things are known in terms of what to expect. For one, creator Genndy Tartakovsky has returned for this new run of episodes, which means this will be very much a true continuation of the story that started 16 years ago. It has also been said that a few years will have passed between the end of season 4 and the beginning of season 5, which will reportedly feature Jack in a state of despair, after spending so many years trying to get back to the past. Beyond that, Samurai Jack season 5 largely remains a mystery, and it seems like the creative team and Adult Swim may intend on keeping it that way until the premiere.

Recently, Adult Swim started re-airing the original run of Samurai Jack, so if you need to get caught up or just want a refresher before the new season airs, that is a good way to do it. Samurai Jack season 5 is set to debut on Adult Swim at 11:30 p.m EST on Saturday, March 11. You can check out the announcement video for yourself below.
