Following his debut in Daredevil season 2 last year, Marvel and Netflix decided to give The Punisher his very own series, which is set to hit the streaming service later this year. The reception to Jon Bernthal's turn as Frank Castle was incredibly positive, some felt it may have even been Emmy-worthy, so it only seemed logical to give the man his own show. The Punisher is currently in production and now some new set photos have emerged.

The latest couple of set photos come courtesy of a Turkish Twitter user who goes by the name of Kulturpat. These two new photos from The Punisher aren't overly revealing, but they do show Frank Castle looking clean shaven and carrying some flowers. It is possible he is going on a date or something of the like, but knowing his violent nature, it seems much more probable that Frank Castle is visiting a gravesite which he has some ties to, or something along those lines. The reason the clean shave is worth noting is because the last batch of set photos from The Punisher that surfaced showed Jon Bernthal sporting a pretty impressive beard, which is apparently only going to be present for part of the series.

Netflix has added several new cast members for the first season of The Punisher. Ebon Moss-Bachrach has come aboard to play Micro, a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle. Amber Rose Revah also signed on to play Dinah Madani, a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent and Ben Barnes will play Billy Russo, Franks Castle's best friend from his days in the Special Forces, who runs a successful private military corporation called "Anvil." It has also been confirmed that Daredevil's Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, will also be appearing in The Punisher.

Specific plot details about The Punisher season 1 have been kept under wraps, but fans are very excited to see the character branch out on his own after his run on Daredevil. Netflix will also be releasing two more Marvel-themed shows this year, with Iron Fist and The Defenders. Iron Fist is set to hit the streaming service on March 17, which will be the last piece of the puzzle before The Defenders finally team up. Netflix has also not set a specific release date for The Defenders, nor is it clear if Frank Castle will appear in that show, but it is going to premiere at some point in 2017.

Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal), who wrote the first two episodes of the series, is serving as showrunner and Executive Producer for The Punisher. Jim Chory (Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage) will also serve as Executive Producer along with Marvel's head of television,Jeph Loeb. Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for The Punisher, but it is confirmed for a 2017 debut. You can check out the new set photos for yourself below.
