Seth Rogen took to his Twitter page yesterday to reveal that production is finally under way on the long-awaited Preacher TV series. The comedic actor is serving as executive producer on the series, and directing the pilot with his filmmaking partner Evan Goldberg. It isn't exactly known where filming is taking place at this time.

The project is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, which centers on a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who becomes merged with a supernatural entity from heaven that gives him the ability to make anyone do what he says. He goes on a perilous journey to literally find God, who has abandoned his post in heaven. Dominic Cooper stars as Jesse Custer, with Ruth Negga playing Jesse's ex-girlfriend Tulip and Joseph Gilgun playing an Irish vampire named Cassidy, both of whom accompany Custer on his journey.

The supporting cast also includes Lucy Griffiths as Emily, Ian Colletti as Arseface, W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson as a married couple created specifically for the TV series. Sam Catlin wrote the pilot episode, which will be directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. They will also executive produce with James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Vivian Cannon, Ori Marmur, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter. Take a look at the first photo on the set below, which also pays homage to Sarah Jones, who was killed in a horrific accident on the set of Midnight Rider, and stay tuned for more on Preacher.
