Orlando Jones Checks Into an All-New House This Monday
Orlando Jones is set to star in an all-new episode of House, M.D. this coming Monday night. On the show, House and his team rush to treat an ailing college football star in time for the patient to compete in NFL tryouts. But when the patient experiences an onslaught of varied and unusual symptoms, the team has trouble reaching a consensus on how to effectively treat him. Meanwhile, Foreman's brother Marcus (guest star Jones) makes a surprise visit to the hospital. The episode, entitled S06E12: "Moving the Chains" airs February 1st at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT only on FOX.
We recently caught up with Orlando to find out more about his appearance on the show. Here's what he had to say:
Foreman had some trouble before he became a Med student. He used to be in a gang. Does your storyline tie into his past?
Orlando Jones: Obviously we are brothers. I am tied to his past in that way. I am just getting out of prison and House gives me a job at the hospital. I start working for him. The rest of it unfolds throughout the episode. I don't want to spoil anything for you. But I will say that it all gets a little dicey.
You'll be working for House. Does that mean you'll be in more than one episode this season?
Orlando Jones: This season? No. I am out of the country shooting a movie right now, so I am out of pocket for the rest of their shooting season. Hopefully I will rejoin them next season.
Since House is always in the middle of everyone's business, what can you tell us about his involvement in the riff between you and your brother?
Orlando Jones: With me getting out of jail and coming to work for him, it certainly places House in the middle of this situation. It's a tough situation for both Foreman and my character, Marcus. House is trapped in the middle of this conflict, and that's the bulk of what you'll be seeing. And it will flow into future episodes. I don't want to ruin anything for you. I can certainly say that House is always in the middle of everything. And he is certainly in the middle of this business.
Is Thirteen going to play a role? Foreman and her seem to be making amends.
Orlando Jones: They do seem to be making amends, don't they? I'm curious to see how that will play out myself. She will certainly play a role in the two brothers' relationship. If she will continue to play a role in the future, I don't even know that.
Were you a fan of House before you got cast?
Orlando Jones: I was. I have liked the show for a very long time. I was definitely a big fan.
Do you have any scenes with Hugh Laurie that lean towards lighter fare? Or is it all dramatic in nature?
Orlando Jones: Yes. I might spend more on-screen time with Hugh than I do my brother. It might be evenly split. I am not sure. I haven't seen the completed episode. But it's certainly not comedic in tone for the most part.
I want to know more about the interactions between your character and Foreman. Is there going to be a lot of drama?
Orlando Jones: Yes. I would say so. Anytime you have a family member getting out of prison, its always drama.
What type of other projects do you have coming up in the near future?
Orlando Jones: I am in Louisiana shooting a thriller called Seconds Apart. At the end of February I will figure out what is on the rest of my docket. Between House, M.D. and that film, that's how 2010 is shaping up for me right now.
Did you do any medical research for this episode?
Orlando Jones: Good question. But no. I didn't have to do any research. As a watcher of the show, I have learned a lot in the past. This particular episode leans more towards the personal relationships on the show. My learning curve was more about that, and less about the nitty gritty medical aspects of the series.
Any last words?
Orlando Jones: It was an amazing opportunity to work on this show. I am a fan of it. And I am looking forward to seeing the show along with everyone else. I think it will be collectively exciting for everyone. And I look forward to appearing on the show again in the near future.
