Once Upon a Time Season 5 Casts 2 Key Disney Characters
ABC's Once Upon a Time has never strayed from casting Disney characters throughout its five-season run. TV Line is reporting that the show has brought on actors Jonathan Whitesell and Kacey Rohl to portray iconic Disney characters Hercules and Megara in Season 5. The site reports that both actors are currently set to appear in the 13th episode entitled Labor of Love. It isn't known if there are plans for both actors to appear in more episodes of Once Upon a Time or not.
Jonathan Whitesell's Hercules is described as "a dashing, strapping young man" who is determined to fulfill his destiny, to be the greatest hero who ever lived. His plans change indefinitely when he falls in love with a beautiful princess, although the princess' identity was not yet revealed. Megara is described as a plucky young adventurer with a sly sense of humor and a tough, no-nonsense spirit. She has spent several years trapped in a dungeon, but that has not dampered her spirits, as she waits for the right opportunity to shine once again.
The site also reports that Bailee Madison will reprise her role as Young Snow White in the same episode as Herclues and Megara. Bailee Madison last appeared as Snow White in October 2013, around the same time her ABC series Trophy Wife debuted, although that show only lasted one season. The actress has also recently starred on The Fosters and Mulaney.
Both Hercules and Meg are based in Greek mythology, but these characters will be inspired by Disney's Hercules, an animated movie that debuted in 1997. Tate Donovan voiced the title character, while Susan Egan voiced Meg in that movie. Of course, it isn't known how they will come across the mythical town of Storybrooke in Once Upon a Time quite yet, but we'll keep you posted as soon as more details are revealed.
Newcomer Jonathan Whitesell made his TV debut in an episode of Proof this summer, and he has also appeared in iZombie and the upcoming movie The Unspoken. He will also guest star on upcoming episodes of The CW's The 100 and Fox's The X-Files revival. Kacey Rohl is best known for playing Abigail Hobbs on NBC's Hannibal and Joanna Engel on NBC's summer series Working the Engels. What do you think about these casting additions for Once Upon a Time?
