AMC's ongoing adaptation of Joe Hill's NOS4A2 starring Zachary Quinto and Ashleigh Cummings is heading towards its season finale on Sunday, July 28. The series has been snatching up solid ratings since its debut earlier this year and currently ranks as the #2 new basic cable drama among adults 25-54 and 18-49 and is a Top 20 cable drama. And, go figure, today we already have word that the series has been renewed for a 10-episode second season over on AMC. Showrunner and executive producer Jami O'Brien said regarding the renewal.

"I am so excited for the opportunity to bring the rest of Joe Hill's amazing novel to television. Joe's imagination is unparalleled. I love the characters and the world, and our colleagues at AMC have been wonderful partners. I'm grateful to be playing in the NOS4A2 sandbox."

David Madden, president of programming, AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios added this.

This otherworldy series makes remarkable work of Joe Hill's spine-tingling novel, deftly helmed by Jami O'Brien and with captivating performances by Zachary Quinto and Ashley Cummings and the rest of the talented cast. NOS4A2 has kept viewers on the edge of their seats since its debut, and we are ready to jump right back into this story for season two."

Not only has the series been a ratings hit this year, but it has also been a hit with critics, currently holding a 68% fresh rating over on Rotten Tomatoes. The Critics Consensus reads: Though NOS4A2 strains to build the necessary atmosphere to pull off its ambitious premise, it does capture the spirit of Joe Hill's singular work and provide a new psychopath for Zachary Quinto to sink his teeth into.

A different kind of vampire story, NOS4A2 is based on Joe Hill's New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. The book centers on the evil and immortal supernatural villain, Charlie Manx who feeds off the souls of children and then deposits them into Christmasland -- a twisted place of Manx's imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. But Manx may have met his match in a gifted young woman named Vic McQueen. You see, McQueen discovers she has a supernatural ability to find lost things and strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims.

The series stars Zachary Quinto as Charlie Manx along with Ashleigh Cummings as Vic McQueen. Olafur Darri Olafsson joins them as Bing Partridge, along with Jahkara J. Smith as Maggie Leigh, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Chris McQueen, Virginia Kull as Linda McQueen, Rarmian Newton as Drew Butler, and Darby Camp as Haley Smith. Jami O'Brien developed Hill's novel for the small screen and serves as the show's executive producer along with Hill, Kari Skogland, and Lauren Corrao. Once again for the cheap seats, the season finale of NOS4A2 season one airs on AMC on Sunday, July 28. Season 2 will go into production this fall for a premiere on AMC in 2020.
