AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a spinoff of Vince Gilligan's landmark AMC/SPT series Breaking Bad.

Better Call Saul

As conceived, the new series is based on the show's popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul.

Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White's lawyer.

It has not been confirmed Bob Odenkirk is reprising his role as Saul, but its expected that he will return. Its not known who else at this time from the series might make a cameo.

Yeah, this is gonna be awesome. I can only hope it's as good as when they did that spin off of Friends called Joey. People were such a fan of Friends that Joey became an instant hit. Or maybe, if we're lucky, it'll retain the same high quality the original program had like when they spun the X-Files off into The Lone Gunmen! This could be REALLY great if done right. I think it ought to be another total character transformation story. It should begin with a very moral approach to Saul and his character and outlook. Then the series explores his descent into his 'Better call Saul' state of being.
