Ronald D. Moore, the mastermind behind resurrecting Battlestar Galactica for cable television, is bringing the 2001 Heath Ledger movie A Knight's Tale to ABC as an hour-long drama.

The film followed 14th Century jousters, and was known for its rock-laden soundtrack that went against the grain of its genre. This new series will center on William Thatcher, a character originated by Heath Ledger, who is a peasant posing as a knight.

The series is planned to stay true to its premise, and its rock and roll structure, which might just turn this into a medieval Glee. Ronald D. Moore is writing the pilot script, as well as executive producing.

A Knight's Tale was released May 11th, 2001 and stars Heath Ledger, Rufus Sewell, Shannyn Sossamon, Paul Bettany, Laura Fraser, Mark Addy, Alan Tudyk, Bérénice Bejo. The film is directed by Brian Helgeland.
