NBC cancels the freshman series Awake
NBC cancels the freshman series Awake
After a spate of renewals over the past two days, NBC is pulling the plug on four freshman shows: Awake, Are You There, Chelsea?, Bent, and Best Friends Forever.

All four shows debuted in midseason, with Are You There, Chelsea? premiering in January, Awake starting in March, and Bent and Best Friends Forever arriving in April. Awake was the most critically acclaimed of the canceled shows, but it could never seem to hold onto an audience in the Thursday 10 PM time slot.

These shows join previously-canceled NBC shows such as The Playboy Club, Prime Suspect, Free Agents, and The Firm.

The network will release its full 2012-2013 lineup next week, so stay tuned.
