If he can make his schedule work, it looks like Neil Patrick Harris will be joining American Horror Story for its Season 4 return, titled American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Having wrapped his role as Barney on the extremely popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother after 9 seasons, the multi-talent actor and singer sent creator Ryan Murphy a letter asking if he could come aboard the hit horror anthology, and Murphy tweeted back that they do have a role for him if he's ready and able.

Neil Patrick Harris had mentioned on EW Radio that he sent in the letter,

"I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it. To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can't wait!"

Here is the response from Ryan Murphy:

He then sent out this image of Sarah Paulson as two headed conjoined twins Dot and Bette as shooting begins:

Glee star Lea Michele has also been lobbying for a role. Now that her series, also created by Ryan Murphy, is coming to an end with Season 6, maybe she'll be brought on as well.

Neil Patrick Harris has yet to respond back, but if he has time open, we can probably expect to see him playing a freak sometime in the very near future. American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts this fall on FX.
