After an extended negotiation, NBC has closed a deal with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit producer Dick Wolf to bring back the long running crime drama for its 16th season.

The series is in its Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 15 and is the longest-running prime-time drama currently on television. It chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives, who investigate sexually based crimes.

Nothing has been confirmed, but Mariska Hargitay, Danny Pino, Kelli Giddish, Ice-T and Raúl Esparza are expected to return. The drama averaged a 2.5 in adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers, which is up from last season.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit airs on Wednesdays 9/8c at on NBC.
