ABC is rolling out the welcome wagon for their highly-anticipated new series The Muppets, bringing in some of the network's biggest stars to greet Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and The Swedish Chef in three new promos. The first video addresses Kermit and Miss Piggy's breakup, as Scandal star Kerry Washington watches their spat unfold. We also see The Middle star Patricia Heaton try to interact with The Swedish Chef and Castle star Nathan Fillion "interrupting" Miss Piggy's promo.

The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages. Throughout The Muppets' storied history, they have been well known for bringing in countless celebrities for brief cameo appearances, a tradition that holds true in these trailers, but it remains to be seen if they will actually appear on the Muppets TV show.

The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady and Anger Management writer-producer Bob Kushell co-created the series, and they will also executive produce alongside Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta. Last month, ABC made the unconventional move of releasing the 10-minute pitch video that secured a series order, but it isn't known if any of that footage will be in the actual pilot episode or not.

It was rumored that the show will follow these characters as they put together their own late-night talk show, but that was never confirmed. We know the series will follow The Muppets' personal and professional lives, but it still isn't known what sort of professional lives they will have yet. Regardless, they are more popular than ever, after two hit movies, The Muppets in 2011 movie and last year's Muppets Most Wanted.

The Muppets will anchor ABC's Tuesday night lineup, debuting September 22 at 8 PM ET. The series will be followed by the second-year comedy Fresh Off the Boat at 8:30 PM. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Beyond the Tank round out the Tuesday shows at 9 PM and 10 PM ET, respectively. Check out the latest trailers for The Muppets, and stay tuned for more details on this highly-anticipated show.
