Less than 24 hours after Marvel and ABC debuted a two and a half minute sneak peek at Marvel's Agent Carter, it was announced that the series will debut on Tuesday, January 6 a 9 PM ET. Take a look at the official announcement below, then read on for details about a new cast member.

Peggy Carter has set her premiere date! The highly-anticipated Marvel's Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell in the role she first brought to life in Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, will premiere on ABC Tuesday, January 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Then, once Marvel's Agent Carter concludes its eight-episode run, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to ABC with all-new episodes Tuesday, March 3 at its regular time, 9:00 p.m. ET, to complete its action-packed second season!

In related news, ComicBook.com is reporting that Marvel's Agent Carter has added Costa Ronin to the cast as Anton Vanko. Anton is the father of Ivan Vanko, a.k.a. Whiplash, who was portrayed on the big screen by Mickey Rourke in 2010's Iron Man 2.

In the opening scenes of Iron Man 2, a flashback shows a dying Anton (Yevgeni Lazarev) telling Ivan that he helped create the arc reactor with Tony's father, Howard Stark, before the Vankos were deported to Siberia. Anton was never given proper credit, but gives his original blueprints to Ivan before he dies, setting him on a course for revenge against the Stark's

Dominic Cooper is reprising his role from Captain America: The First Avenger as Tony's father Howard Stark, so it's possible that we may see some of the history between the Stark and Vanko families in this series, as well as the origins of the arc reactor, the technology used to power Tony Stark's Iron Man suit.

Costa Ronin is best known for playing Oleg Burov on the FX series The Americans.
