Bus, do your stuff! It's time to get back on board as The Magic School Bus Rides Again premieres exclusively on Netflix on September 29, 2017. And it's debuting with a reimagining of its classic theme song sung by none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda! Netflix has released the first trailer for this highly-anticipated series, featuring new footage and the theme song.

The kids are back at Walkerville School for another school year of astonishing, out-of-this-world field trips in this all-new reimagining of the iconic science-comedy-adventure series The Magic School Bus. But this year, there's a new Frizzle (Kate McKinnon)! The younger sister of the famed Professor Frizzle (Lily Tomlin) has taken over the classroom! But worry not, the new Ms Frizzle shares her sister's zany ways and passion for science. Field trips this year are wilder than ever, into the clouds, across the internet, riding the continents, even a plunge into the depths of the Sun itself! And along the way, the kids we know and love bring their science investigations into the 21st century, still taking chances, making mistakes and getting messy!

We first reported on this new Magic School Bus series way back in June 2014, when Netfix picked up 26 episodes of the new series, although it was originally being planned for a 2016 launch. The original announcement also revealed that the show will have a "global emphasis on STEM education," with the show then entitled Magic School Bus 360 degrees, but it seems the show may have a new approach, since the STEM education was not mentioned. The original announcement also stated that the series is set to provide, "an exceptional opportunity for kids to watch, learn and explore science, inspiring them to become active participants in the scientific process through the show's extraordinary adventures and fantastic discoveries".

The original series The Magic School Bus is the longest-running kids' science series in history, airing for 18 straight years in 30 countries around the world. During the original show's epic run, it took home 100 prestigious awards, including an Emmy Award, Annenberg Award and National Education Association Award. The Magic School Bus has also garnered high praise from parents and educators for making science education fun and appealing to all audiences, with a specific emphasis on those populations historically at risk of "science avoidance," such as girls and minorities. The series was inspired by the bestselling Scholastic books written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen, with over 85 million books in print worldwide in nine languages.

For those who want to catch up with the original series The Magic School Bus all four seasons spanning 52 episodes are currently available to Netflix members in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, and Latin America. While the trailer reveals that Lily Tomlin will also return as the original Professor Frizzle, none of the other voice cast members have been revealed quite yet.
