Last year, we reported that Machinima ordered the web series Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, which is based on the upcoming animated feature Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Today Machinima has released the first trailer, with an introduction from producer and animator Bruce W. Timm, which gives fans a much different perspective on superheroes Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Each episode of the web series will tell a brief story about each hero, in a much darker, alternate universe.

In an alternative history Zod is Superman's father, Batman is a vampiric Man-Bat, and Wonder Woman is the child of Ares, God of War. When these dark heroes form an alliance, the question everyone asks is will they save the world, or rule it? From visionary producer and animator Bruce W. Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series), Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles turns the DC Universe upside-down.

This animated shortform series will debut on Machinima on June 8, before the animated feature Justice League: Gods and Monsters arrives on July 28. The series explores a newly conceived reality in the DC Universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the Super Heroes that people think they know. Check out the first trailer below, and stay tuned for more on Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles.
