"The cast of Jersey Shore are currently in negotiations In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the cast of Jersey Shore is closing a deal for a large pay increase.

The group's contract negotiations have halted production on season "2.5" of the series. The show is set to start shooting this week.

The cast originally asked the network for $30,000 per episode. That would amount to a 200% raise.

MTV has countered with a number that's close to that. It looks like some members are expected to accept the new offer by the end of the day.

Even though production of the current 24-episode season has been held up, the salary increase may not be realized until a presumed third season.

It had been rumored that MTV was only interested in keeping certain members of the cast. Others say "MTV firmly wanted to keep the cast intact." Not all the cast members will get the same amount of money.

The cast shot the first season for $5,000 per episode. They then brought that number up to $10,000 for the second season of the show.
