Jason O'Mara goes prehistoric in Terra Nova Last seen on ABC's time-traveling cop drama Life on Mars, actor Jason O'Mara has now signed onto yet another weekly time-traveling series for Fox. This time out, instead of heading back to the 70s, O'Mara and his TV family will be headed back to prehistoric times for the action-adventure drama Terra Nova.

Variety reports that O'Mara is confirmed to play Jim Shannon, a man from 2041 who is forced to guide his family as a group of settlers after they are zapped back in time to a desolate, prehistoric part of the earth. Producer Brannon Braga stated, "Writing the character of Jim Shannon, we've thought of Jason O'Mara as something of an archetype. He has an everyman quality to him, but there's something dangerous underneath."

Other actors are currently being sought for Terra Nova, which most likely won't premiere until sometime next year.
