Earlier today, we reported that The Walking Dead star Sarah Wayne Callies has been cast in the found footage thriller Category Six. The news came from Entertainment Weekly, where it was also revealed that production is starting July 23. Since that is just over two weeks from today, and production on The Walking Dead Season 3 is still ongoing, it begs the following question: Is Sarah Wayne Callies leaving The Walking Dead?

There may be any number of reasonable explanations that do not involve the actress leaving/being killed off of the hit AMC zombie series. First off, no details were given for Sarah Wayne Callies' character in Category Six, so perhaps she just has a small role, and was given a short amount of time off from The Walking Dead to shoot this movie.

It is also possible that this shooting schedule falls during a hiatus period. We reported that production began on Season 3 in early May, and the cast will be present at San Diego Comic-Con this week (including Sarah Wayne Callies), which obviously means a break in the production. In Season 2, AMC split their 13-episode season into two parts, with the first seven episodes airing in October and November, and the last six airing in February and March. The network hasn't confirmed a split for the 16-episode Season 3 yet, although it is possible they are working on a staggered production schedule.

On the flip side, this isn't the first time that casting news has raised questions about an actor's status on the show. Back in January, we reported that Jon Bernthal, who played the volatile Shane, was in talks to star in Frank Darabont's new TNT pilot L.A. Noir. This raised several eyebrows and left many wondering whether or not Shane would make it to the end of The Walking Dead Season 2. As it turns out, he was killed off, with confirmation of his L.A. Noir role coming just one day after he was turned into a "walker" in Episode 2.12: Better Angels.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet, and we are still a long ways away from The Walking Dead Season 3 debuting in October. We'll have to wait and see what the fate of Sarah Wayne Callies' Lori truly is, so stay tuned.
