Danny Rand is coming back to Hell's Kitchen for another season on Netflix. That's right, Marvel fans. Love it or hate it, Iron Fist has been renewed for season 2. The announcement was made over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. So after The Defenders, Danny Rand will be going back out on his own for Iron Fist Season 2. Plan accordingly.

As reported by Heroic Hollywood, Marvel's head of TV Jeph Loeb made the Iron Fist season 2 announcement at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. Star Finn Jones was in attendance at the event in order to help promote The Defenders season 1, which arrives next month on August 18. The first season of Iron Fist made its debut on Netflix back in March and, unlike all of the other Marvel shows so far on Netflix, it was a bit of a mixed bag.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage were all well-rounded hits for Netflix and both critics and fans adored them. Iron Fist, on the other hand, was not. The show has a measly 17 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a much better 78 percent audience score. So fans seem to still enjoy it well enough, but critics thrashed it. Sort of a Suicide Squad situation. Still, many of those fans who liked it would probably tell you that they had some issues with Iron Fist Season 1. Some of the fight choreography was a bit less impressive than the other shows and there were some pacing issues.

But they have the opportunity to turn the ship around in Iron Fist Season 2 and they're already off to a good start. Jeph Loeb also announced that Simone Missick is joining the Iron Fist Season 2, reprising her role as detective Misty Knight who made her debut on Luke Cage. That should help build some good faith from those who didn't particularly enjoy Iron Fist season 1. Also, Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) teamed up with Misty Knight in Marvel Comics back in 1977 and were known as the Daughters of Dragons. So perhaps Netflix could be building to something here. The odds of a team that obscure ever showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a movie are slim to none, so that is part of what makes these Netflix shows so great.

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are also getting second seasons on Netflix as well as Daredevil heads into its third season. With Iron Fist season 2 now confirmed, it seems like a fairly safe bet that The Defenders season 2 will be in Netflix's future as well. As for how The Punisher fits in? We'll have to see how it all goes once season 1 arrives later this year. No specific premiere date has been announced yet for Iron Fist Season 2, but it likely won't arrive until 2019, with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil all likely to debut their new seasons in 2018.
