Nickelodeon has released the first trailer for Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus. The upcoming TV movie, based on the beloved series from the early 2000s, was initially announced in April 2017 and has been coming together behind the scenes while fans have been waiting impatiently to see Zim and Gir make the return to the small screen. Now, just after making its debut at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the trailer is here and it promises to be a massive spectacle full of imagery fans have come to expect.

The trailer is absent of dialogue. Instead, it opts for an in-depth visual look at the movie, which looks equal parts ridiculous (in the best way possible) and grand in scale. The highlight arguably being Gir rolling around in a huge pile of pizza, followed by the robot sidekick throwing a waffle and a whole bunch of syrup into the mix. On hand at SDCC was series creator Jhonen Vazquez, original voice cast members Richard Horvitz (ZIM), Rikki Simons (GIR), Wally Wingert (Almighty Tallest Red) and Kevin McDonald (Almighty Tallest Purple) and art director Jenny Goldberg.

Jhonen Vasquez, while offstage, joked during the panel, "Zim's plot to return to TV has become a success with 'Enter the Florpus. It's exciting to give fans an early sneak peek of the movie and I hope they enjoy it and I'm definitely Jhonen Vasquez and not just someone making up a quote for him!" Other cast members from the original Invader Zim series making their return include Andy Berman as Dib Membrane, Melissa Fahn as Gaz Membrane, Rodger Bumpass as Professor Membrane, Olivia d'Abo as Tak and Paul Greenberg as Poonchy. Nickelodeon has also released a synopsis for the movie, which reads as follows.

"In Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus, Zim discovers his almighty leaders have no intention of coming to Earth and he loses confidence in his own amazingness for the first time in his amazing life, which is the big break his human nemesis Dib has been waiting for. At some point, GIR rides a tiny donkey, and that's all anyone should really care about."

Invader Zim, which aired its first season from 2001 to 2002, didn't last long, but it made an impact with those who loved it. The show's second season wasn't fully released until 2006, when it finally made its way to Nicktoons Network. The show developed a major cult following, which is what helped Nickelodeon decided to bring it back for this TV movie. The series won an Annie Award and an Emmy during its original run.

In addition to the trailer, a new poster for the movie was also unveiled at SDCC, which you can check out for yourself below.
