With just under one week left to secure a new home before the actors' deals expire, the streaming service Hulu has abandoned negotiations to revive Community for a sixth and final season.

Hulu was first mentioned as a possible new home for Community back in March, months before the show was actually cancelled in May by NBC.

Hulu retains the digital rights to the comedy series, but Comedy Central has the off-network rights, which may have complicated the negotiations for Community's resurrection on Hulu.

While Hulu was "the only viable suitor" courting Community, Sony Pictures Television is still not giving up hope, even though they need to find a new home before June 30, when all of the Community cast members' deals expire.

Here's what an unidentified insider had to say, hinting that another suitor is still in the mix to bring back Community.

"Sony does not give up easily. A lot can happen in one week."
