Over the weekend, a new trailer for House of Cards Season 3 showcased some marital tension between the Underwoods, as they posed for their White House portrait. Today, Netflix has debuted yet another trailer dubbed "Traces," which is the first in a four-part "teaser quartet." While he is never fully seen, Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is smoking a cigarette when he receives a phone call from the First Lady (Robin Wright), a call he decides to take in the bedroom, while one of his aides finishes extinguishing his cigarette. What could this all mean? Hopefully more is revealed in the subsequent installments of this teaser quartet, which will hopefully be released soon.

The series returns to Washington with the stakes now higher than ever. President Underwood fights to secure his legacy. Claire wants more than being First Lady. The biggest threat they face is contending with each other. Season 3 will feature a number of new recurring characters, including Kim Dickens in an unspecified role and Jenna Stern as a United Nations ambassador, with Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina from the band Pussy Riot also set to appear.

Based on the BBC miniseries of the same name, the third season of House of Cards is executive produced by David Fincher, Joshua Donen, Beau Willimon, Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti, John David Coles and Eric Roth. The one-hour drama is produced by Donen/Fincher/Roth and Trigger Street Productions, Inc. in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.
