Heading into the weekend, Lucasfilm and Disney officially announced that Dnald Glover will play young Lando Calrissian in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story alongside Alden Ehrenreich as the title character. But what will these old friends and galactic scoundrels be getting up to in this standalone adventure? We have new details that give us an idea what this story will actually be about.

And it actually revolves quite a bit around the iconic ship The Millennium Falcon. There are quite a few legendary tales about space pirate Han Solo that can be told in a two hour movie. But there are certain pieces of lore that have often been heard but never seen that may make their way to the big screen if rumors pan out. This movie takes place roughly ten years before Han Solo met Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker, which led to him joining the rebellion.

For now, Disney and Lucasfilm are staying quiet about Han Solo plot details as they attempt to successfully launch their first ever Star Wars spin-off Rogue One in December. The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit claims to know the story, though. And he says the main gist of the movie will revolve around how Lando Calrissian lost his ship to Han and Chewbacca. It was in The Empire Strikes Back that this piece of Star Wars canon was first revealed.

In that second movie, Lando asks Han what happened to 'his ship', which leads Solo to declare that he won it 'fair and square'. Since that time, it has only been hinted that Lando lost the ship during a game of Sabacc, which is a popular card game used for gambling throughout the galaxy.

It is also being speculated that the Han Solo movie could feature the iconic Kessel Run that has so often been heard about over the years, and in several of the movies. That isn't mentioned in this latest report, and it's possible that race is being saved for the sequel, or even the trilogy ending climax, as Disney and LucasFilm have hinted that this will be its own franchise, with Alden Ehrenreich signed on for three movies.

While the Millennium Falcon was first introduced in 1977's A New Hope, that's not the earliest it's been seen in the Star Wars timeline. If you look close enough, you'll see the smuggling ship in Revenge of the Sith, before it was owned by Han Solo and Lando. It was confirmed that this is in fact Han's ship and not another that looks just like it. So the Falcon must have its own unique backstory that will likely get explored in the years to come.

We have yet to see Alden Ehrenreich in costume as Han Solo, and we probably won't until after the release of Rogue One. Han Solo is the first of the new Star Wars movies that will actually get a summer premiere, with it landing on the more Star Wars traditional release date of May 25, 2018.
