Gotham returns for Season 2 on September 21. And if the latest extended TV trailer is any indication, this year is going to be insane! While Ben McKenzie's James Gordon looks forward to a new day in his dreary town, a whole host of evil villains are planning their own coming out parties. And it's going to get ugly quick.

GCPD Captain Essen (Zabryna Guevara) is hoping for a break in the chaos in light of the underworld power shifts that happened in the Gotham Season 1 finale. This latest teaser shows that's not happening anytime soon. We get a glimpse of everyone from Penguin and Victor Zaasz to Edward Nygma's Riddler. There's billionaire bad guy Theo Galvan and his sister Tabitha making their presence known on the scene as well, alongside the circus vet, Jerome Valeska, who many believe is The Joker.

When fans tune in to Gotham Season 2, there will be a few new faces playing hard and fast with the city's police force. Tabitha Galivan, a.k.a. Tigress (Jessica Lucas) and her brother Theo Galivan (James Frain) are leading the main story this time around. Tabitha is the lead enforcer for her brother a billionaire industrialist hell-bent on taking over Gotham. He is described as sexy, heroic and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha, who is described as sexy, very violent. Theo is harboring a centuries old vendetta, and is set to take chaos and violence to shocking new levels, bringing the city to its knees. Their plan is said to create new villains for the future Batman, and it will also bring the destruction of others.

Both Tabitha and Theo are featured in this latest sneak peek, though it's really Joker who dominates the footage. Ben McKenzie (James Gordon), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Robin Taylor (Penguin), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean), Camren Bicondova (Catwoman), Sean Pertwee (Alfred), Cory Michael Smith (Riddler) and Morena Baccarin (Dr. Leslie Thompkins) are all returning for what is being referred to as the Rise of the Villains. Hopefully we'll find out about more villains joining the show before Season 2 kicks off.

Another new addition to the cast include Natalie Alyn Lind as Silver St. Cloud, who will be a potential new love interest for young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). Michael Chiklis signed on last month to play Captain Nathanial Barnes, who becomes a new mentor and ally to Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Season 1 stars Morena Baccarin (Dr. Leslie Thompkins), Nicholas D'Agosto (Harvey Dent) and Chris Chalk have also been promoted to series regulars in Season 2.

Gotham returns with its Season 2 premiere on Monday, September 21 at 8 PM ET on Fox. It's worth noting that, later in the season, the series will be competing with another superhero show based on a DC comic book, CBS' Supergirl. That show debuts Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM ET, before moving to its regular 8 PM time slot on Monday, November 2. Who will get the last laugh when Gotham Season 2 debuts Sept. 21? Guess we'll have to wait and see!
