After casting newcomer Elizabeth Lail as Elsa's sister Anna and Scott Michael Foster as Anna's beau Kristoff in Once Upon a Time's Season 4 storyline that incorporates elements of Disney's hit animated musical Frozen, ABC has hired former Fringe actress Georgina Haig to play the Ice Queen herself, Elsa.

Queen Elsa of Arendelle is the villain of Frozen, with her Once Upon a Time live-action incarnation struggling to control her powers. She sends her town into an eternal winter, but it's her love for her sister Anna that brings her back from the brink of complete villainy. She spends her days worried what will happen if she loses control of her magic powers again.

Co-creator Adam Horowitz had this to say about bringing the beloved Disney character to the small screen so soon after Frozen became a monster hit at the box office.

"We are very well aware of how beloved [Frozen] is, so we're very careful that we want to tell a story that is uniquely ours but also honors those characters that everyone fell in love with this past year."

Elsa is being used by the show because the producers like how she straddles the line between good and evil, something that is apparent with most of the characters in Storybrooke.

Georgina Haig previously played Etta Bishop on Fringe, and can currently be seen as disgraced cop Lee Anne Marcus on CBS' summer series Reckless.
