The Flash is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated fall shows this season, with a number of characters from the DC Comics already confirmed to appear in Season 1. Today, we have word that two more comic book characters will be popping up in the first season, Farooq, a.k.a. Blackout, and Wally West.

TV Line reports that Blackout will be appearing in the seventh episode this season, although the role has not been cast at this time. Blackout, described as an "electricity-wielding metahuman" will arrive in Central City to exact his revenge on S.T.A.R. Labs' Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). That episode will also feature Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) suffering a "power outage" of his own, as he loses his super-speed just as Blackout arrives in town.

In the New 52 comic books, Blackout fights alongside Cyborg to stop a war that is brewing between Aquaman and Wonder Woman, but it isn't clear if this story line will be used in the TV series. The character was introduced in the comic Flashpoint, a story which lead to the New 52 reboot. Blackout joins a growing list of confirmed characters including Clancy Brown (General Wade Elling), Robbie Amell (Firestorm), Robert Knepper (The Clock King), Kelly Frye (Plastique) and Girder (Greg Finley).

During an appearance at Paleyfest, The Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Wally West will also be popping up at some point, although they wouldn't reveal exactly when he will debut. Two of the show's main characters are Candice Patton and Jesse L. Martin as Iris West and her father Detective West. While the original DC Comics version of Wally West was an older, caucasian male, the New 52 DC comic reboot depicted Wally West as a young African-American kid. The executive producers revealed that they made the West family African-American so they can eventually introduce this version of Wally West.

In a separate interview with Give Me My Remote at Paleyfest, Andrew Kreisberg offered new details about Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell joining the show as Captain Cold and Heat Wave. Wentworth Miller joined the cast back in July, with Dominic Purcell signing on last week. Andrew Kreisberg revealed that it was actually Wentworth Miller's idea to bring Dominic Purcell on board.

"It was crazy, it was actually Wentworth's idea. There are references to Heat Wave in that first episode, and Wentworth said: 'You know, if you're looking for a Heat Wave, I'd love to work with Dominic again.' Right now it's only for one [episode], but we're hopeful. The Rogues are such a huge part of the Flash mythology, and I think like anything they're going to want to see how their characters progress, and change, and grow."

The executive producer also added that, while Captain Cold and Heat Wave represent the first pairing of Rouges characters, there will be more team-ups to follow in Season 1

"Wentworth and Dominic are our first team-up, but as more and more metahumans show up and we meet more of them, I'm sure pairing up will inevitably happen. Part of the reason they pair up in the comic books is when [The Flash] is at the top of his game he's pretty near unstoppable. And part of the reason Snart seeks out Mick is... he didn't quite win that first round, and he knows if he's going to take The Flash on again he's going to have to up his game. The Flash isn't just about The Flash. The Rogues have had their own comic book at times, and when you get actors like Wentworth and Dominic, you don't have to be worried that the audience is going to drift, or that 'we're not hanging out with our hero.' So it really opens up some storytelling possibilities."
