After a dramatic and explosive first season, The Flash is set to up the ante even more in Season 2 by introducing a slew of new characters, including this season's main villain, Zoom, voiced by Tony Todd. The one character many fans are looking forward to is Jay Garrick, played by Teddy Sears, who will most likely be introduced in this season's second episode, Flash of Two Worlds. Today, The CW has released a new trailer featuring behind-the-scenes footage, which shows the first meeting between Jay Garrick and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

We have previously seen Jay Garrick in a trailer released last week, where he issues a warning for Team Flash, but this video shows both of these respective Flash's shaking hands, giving us a brief look at Jay Garrick with his helmet on. In the DC Comics, Jay Garrick was the very first version of The Flash, with Barry Allen making his debut in 1956. The iconic 1961 comic book Flash of Two Worlds revealed that both of these characters were from alternate worlds in the "multiverse," with these characters coming from Earth-1 and Earth-2. This groundbreaking comic introduced the concept of the "multiverse," which will be explored in Season 2.

Other new characters arriving in Central City this season are Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Michael Ironside playing Lewis Snart, Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, Violett Beane as Jesse Quick, Demore Barnes as Henry Hewitt and Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland, a.k.a former WWE Superstar Edge). The show will also feature two characters from the midseason series DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Falk Hentschel's Hawkman and Casper Crump's Vandall Savage. The Season 2 premiere episode, titled The Man Who Saved Central City, airing Tuesday, October 6 at 8 PM ET on The CW, will feature the debut of Atom Smasher.

It has also been confirmed that characters from last season, such as Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and his sister, the Golden Glider (Peyton List) will return. Tom Cavanagh will also return as Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash, but the producers have already confirmed that he won't be interacting with Barry Allen, since he was sent away to Earth-2 in the season finale. How he will fit into the story line is uncertain at this point, but hopefully we'll find out in the season finale.

This trailer also features brief glimpses of the green screen process used to bring Barry and Jay's speedy powers to life, along with some candid moments between takes from stars Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Victor Garber. Are you looking forward to Jay Garrick's arrival in Central City? Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think, as we get ready for the season premiere in just under two weeks.
