The month of May is one of transition, with school ending for many college and high school students as they begin their summer vacation. May also brings the start of the summer movie season, and the end of the current TV season, with several shows airing their season finales over the next few days and weeks. One of those shows is The CW's The Flash, which will bring its season to a close on Tuesday, May 24 at 8 PM ET with The Race Of His Life. Today we have new photos from this highly-anticipated episode, which teases the ultimate showdown between Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and the villainous Zoom, a.k.a. Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears).

The season finale follows Barry as he finally discovers Zoom/Jay Garrick's ultimate plan. Barry vows to do whatever it takes to stop him. Possibly the most intriguing photo in this bunch from The CW is an image where Barry is getting ready to race Zoom himself, possibly to determine who really is the World's Fastest Man. Both Jay Garrick and Zoom were introduced early on this season, with Jay, Earth-2's version of The Flash, travelling through the Speed Force to warn Barry and his team about Zoom, but we learned later this season that Jay actually is Zoom.

These photos also show that all of Team Flash has banded together, presumably in this fight against Zoom, although we don't see exactly who they're facing. Joining Barry is the Earth-2 version of Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), who is holding a unique weapon, Jesse Quick (Violett Beane), Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Candice Patton as Iris West, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. The episode was directed by Antonio Negret from a script written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. This season also sees the addition of newcomers Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and Tony Todd as the voice of Zoom. The CW has already renewed The Flash for Season 3, along with its fellow DC Comics shows Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

It's worth noting that Supergirl is also shifting to The CW for its second season, after debuting on CBS. Back in March, Grant Gustin guest starred in an unprecedented crossover episode of Supergirl, so with Kara Zor-El moving to The CW, it's certainly possible that she could cross over into the network's growing stable of superhero shows. Take a look at the new photos for next week's Season 2 finale of The Flash below.
