The Season 1 finale of The Flash set the table for numerous interesting possibilities in Season 2, which is currently in production. Shortly after the Season 1 finale, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg teased that The Flash Season 2 will explore the multiverse, meaning the multiple timelines in Earth 1 and Earth 2. As it turns out, fans will get to see Earth 2 a lot sooner than they expected. Here's what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had to say in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, revealing they're trying to make the multiverse simple and complex at the same time, in the same way they handled time travel.

"We're trying to do the same thing this year with Earth 2 and the concept of the multiverse and the concept of dopplegangers. We've been having a lot of fun with that and getting glimpses of Earth 2 probably sooner than people would've thought."

At the end of the Season 1 finale, Barry Allen entered the "singularity" known as the Speed Force, where fans got a few intriguing Easter Eggs. This scene showed Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) transformed into the villainous Killer Frost, Barry seeing a statue of himself, and the helmet of the original Flash, Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears this season. Some fans believe that Barry will journey to Earth 2 in order to stop the singularity that appeared during the finale, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

It's possible that we could also see Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) as the villainous Vibe in Earth 2, but that hasn't been confirmed either. The cast and crew revealed at Comic-Con that Barry will get new "lightning" powers, along with a different mentor and a new love interest. The main villain in Season 2 will be Zoom, who has not been cast yet. The character is said to be faster than both The Flash and Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh) combined.

The CW series has already added a number of new cast members, with Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick and Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, a new detective at the CCPD who partners up with Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and has a crush on Barry. Also coming aboard this season is Michael Ironside as Lewis Snart, the father of Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart, a.k.a. Golden Glider (Peyton List), former WWE wrestler Adam Copeland, a.k.a. Edge, as Atom Smasher and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West. What do you think about these new details? Chime in with your thoughts and stay tuned for more on The Flash, which returns with the Season 2 premiere on Tuesday, October 6 at 8 PM ET on The CW.
