Both Marvel's Daredevil and 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four seem to be taking a more serious approach to their rich comic book history, including the look of the characters. Judging from what has been released thus far for both projects in terms of trailers and photos, it seems as though the traditional, more colorful costumes have been discarded for a brooding, pitch black look. But don't worry! According to those involved with both Marvel titles, that simply is not the case. In both Daredevil and Fantastic Four, we'll get to see superhero suits that more closely resemble what has come before in the comics. But it will be an evolution that may take some time, and we might not get to see these more traditional looks until we've paid our admission.

In regards to director Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, we've only seen the characters in their so-called 'containment suits.' The suits, created by the military, help the superhero team control their newfound powers. But they won't be the only suits on display. Star Miles Teller, who plays Reed Richards, confirms that we will indeed see the blue costumes at some point during the movie. About what we've seen thus far in the trailer, he explains:

"These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great [...] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn't don the traditional costumes. You've got to. There is some servicing there. You've got to give that to the fans. That's what it's all about."

Marvel's Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight offers a similar scenario for his crime fighting lawyer Matt Murdock. It has long been teased that the Hell's Kitchen vigilante will don his bright red spandex and devil horns. But when that will actually happen is anybody's guess, as reaching that point will be something that is explored over many episodes. Will it take all 13? Or will this story thread even seep into Season 2? Steven S. DeKnight offers this on the evolution of Murdock's crime fighting attire:

"He always wore a black mask that was tied in the back. We went through a lot of different versions and did a lot of R&D before settling on something. If you watch very closely, you'll see the outfit evolve subtly into what we call the black ninja suit. The mask changes. He starts wearing protective pads. Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn't be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun. The idea was to back the story up to the point before Matt is Daredevil. Then we could take him to a place where some version of the red suit works in a grounded world. The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense."

While we might not get to see the iconic red suit in Marvel's Daredevil right away, all 13 episodes are being released on Netflix April 10. If, at some point in the first season, he does pull on his crimson costume, it won't take long for fans to fast-forward to the end and get a screengrab. While we might not get to see the final incarnation of Daredevil before the premiere, we'll surely be getting it roughly around an hour later, as soon as some eager fan sifts through all 13 hours to find it.
