We are just a few months away from The Defenders arriving on Netflix. Even though the series is coming relatively soon, many elements of the show remain a complete mystery. Thanks to a newly released teaser video from Marvel, some of that mystery has been unraveled. We now know that Elektra will be coming back, as well as the Hand, who will presumably be one of the major threats to the heroes in the series.

The brief and somewhat mysteries teaser was posted to The Defenders Twitter account and it is pretty dark, but also telling. The video shows us the resurrection tomb that was used by the Hand in Daredevil season 2. Even though we don't actually see Elektra in the teaser, the Hand did use the resurrection tomb on her and, as further evidence that she is returning, actress Elodie Yung re-tweeted the video. When we last saw Elektra, she had been resurrected as the weapon Black Sky, so there is a lot to play with in bringing her back for The Defenders.

This is the second teaser video that has been released for The Defenders so far, but we still don't have a full-length trailer for the series yet. The first teaser featured the four central heroes, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, hanging out in an elevator looking ready for action. The most interesting thing about the teaser, which is for a superhero team-up show, is that none of them were in costume. Though, Matt Murdock was wearing his headband. So, even though this is in many ways a TV version of what was done with The Avengers, it is clear that The Defenders is going to be something else entirely.

Plot details for the series have been scarce so far, but The Defenders will follow Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) who are going to put their resources together in order take on a mysterious businesswoman named Alexandra, who is set to be played by Sigourney Weaver. Now that we know Elektra will be coming back, the offices that Daredevil and Elektra discovered at Midland Circle with the massive hole in the ground in Daredevil season 2 could be a much larger clue to the looming threat.

Outside of the core heroes, The Defenders will be bringing back Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page,Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Simone Missick as Misty Knight and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Netflix is also working on new seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, as well as The Punisher season 1, which will also debut later this year. The Defenders season 1 is set to hit Netflix on August 18. You can check out the brand new teaser video for yourself below.
