Just one day after The CW's Legends of Tomorrow added Falk Hentschel as Hawkman, DC Comics revealed even more casting news today, announcing that Casper Crump has signed on to play Vandal Savage. First introduced in 1944, Vandal Savage has been one of the DC Universe's biggest heavies for over 70 years, frequently going up against the Justice Society and most recently fighting alongside Etrigan the Demon and Madame Xanadu in The New 52's Demon Knights. However, he's never been brought to live action life before (though he's appeared in animated movies and shows, including Justice League: Doom and Young Justice).

Vandal Savage is immortal, having spent the past 6,000 years moving like a virulent disease through history, whispering in the ears of despots and dictators, all leading to his eventual domination of the world. Crump will first be seen in the role in the crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash, before continuing onto DC's Legends of Tomorrow. This is also the same strategy being used for the character of Hawkman, whose casting was announced yesterday.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow also stars Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson, Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein, Caity Lotz as White Canary, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave and Brandon Routh as Atom. Caity Lotz's White Canary has also been confirmed to appear on Arrow early on in Season 4, to set up her resurrection as White Canary. The actress previously starred as Black Canary on The CW series, before she was killed in the Season 3 premiere.

When heroes alone are not enough... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Sarah Schechter and Marc Guggenheim will serve as executive producers of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Casper Crump starred in the Oscar-winning short film Helium, and he will next be seen in the upcoming Tarzan as Captain Kerchover. Are you looking forward to seeing Vandal Savage on the small screen? We'll keep you posted regarding his debut in the Arrow and The Flash crossover episodes, and stay tuned for more DC's Legends of Tomorrow casting news .
