We've known for quite some time that Daredevil season 3 is going to happen, but beyond that, the updates have been a bit sparse. That probably has to do with the fact that Netflix has been focusing on some of the other Marvel characters and The Defenders. But we now have an update from Charlie Cox and according to him, he'll be back in the red suit later this year filming Daredevil Season 3.

The actor recently did an interview with Boogaloo Radio and provided an update on the status of Daredevil season 3. The last we heard, at least officially speaking was when Marvel announced that Daredevil will be getting a season 3 in July of last year. Charlie Cox couldn't say much and his update wasn't overly long-winded, but he did confirm that the new season will shoot later this year. Here is what he had to say about it.

"I do that later in the year. We'll go back and do that."

So there you have it. Since the show will be filming again later this year, it seems very likely we will be seeing new episodes of Daredevil next year, though, it is anyone's guess as to when exactly that will be. Daredevil season 2 came out in March of 2016, so it has already been more than a year since new episodes have landed on Netflix. That means the appetite for more Matt Murdock action is growing. Luke Cage and Iron Fist have arrived in the interim to help fill the void, but Daredevil is very much a unique thing, even within the Netflix corner of the Marvel universe.

Daredevil season 2 finally brought Frank Castle into the Marvel universe and that helped get Jon Bernthal his own Netflix series as The Punisher, which is set to debut later this year. Jessica Jones season 2 is also currently filming and The Defenders has wrapped as well, which is set to arrive on Netflix this August. That series will essentially serve as the TV version of what Marvel did with The Avengers back in 2012. Since Daredevil first debuted, Netflix has really ramped up their Marvel projects. That is why fans have had to wait longer for Daredevil season 3, but not rushing it is probably for the best. They probably don't want to put out too much Marvel content and they want to make sure the quality remains consistent. Or at least try to. So far, Iron Fist is really the only show that critics haven't responded to, but fans still seemed to like it.

No plot details have been revealed for Daredevil season 3 yet, but there is always the chance that they could finally adapt Frank Miller's classic Born Again storyline. That would certainly go over well with Marvel fans, but we'll have to wait and see what route they decided to go with it. Either way, Charlie Cox will be picking up his walking stick later this year and that is a good thing. You will next be able to see Matt Murdock doing his thing in The Defenders, which is set to debut on August 18.
