Teasing the release of Daredevil Season 3, Marvel and Netflix have released an ominously cryptic new poster, helping establish the tone we should expect to see in these new episodes. The poster is covered in red, featuring Daredevil's mask resting on a single cross, with a church being barely visible in the background. The caption "Let there be darkness" is at the top of the poster. There is nothing else on the poster, not even the title for Daredevil or a release date.

The poster certainly does a good job at tying into the Catholic presence that has been in both previous Daredevil seasons, that was also an important part of his character in the comics. The brief teaser that released earlier this month featured Daredevil in a confession booth, which is a location we've regularly seen him in at previous points throughout the series. However, the teaser and this new poster both tease that the Catholic connection with Daredevil may take a darker tone, with Matt Murdock going so far as to say he would rather be "the devil" than himself in the teaser.

Since the beginning of 2018, the Daredevil Twitter page has also been rather cryptic, only tweeting Bible verses rather than having actual captions and quotes like the page did in years past. With the release of the new poster, the Twitter account merely captioned it with "Job 30:26," a verse which says "Yet when I hoped for good, evil came; when I looked for light, then came darkness."

Surely, Matt Murdock is in for quite a ride in this upcoming season of Daredevil. The last we saw of the blind hero, he sacrificed his life at the end of The Defenders in an attempt to redeem Elektra. As most people expected, Daredevil is now back, but based on what little we have seen, his experience with death has left him completely rattled, with him now doubting his morals and the impact he wants to leave on the world.

Based on this marketing, it is very likely that the rumors are true that Daredevil Season 3 will be based on the "Born Again" comic book arc. This is perhaps one of the most famous Daredevil comic-book series, featuring Matt Murdock falling into insanity, doubting himself as his world falls apart. This comic arc featured Wilson Fisk / Kingpin as the primary antagonist, who was responsible for Daredevil's descent into darkness. Vincent D'Onofrio, who played Fisk in both previous seasons of Daredevil, is confirmed to be returning in a starring role for this third season, so it's safe to say that Fisk will indeed have a hand in bringing Murdock closer to insanity like he did in the comics.

Even though we've only received a brief teaser and this new poster for the third season of Daredevil, they are still enough to get us excited to see what is next for the "man without fear." Though we still do not have an exact release date for Season 3, it is expected to release before the end of the year, so hopefully Marvel fans won't have to wait too long. In the meantime, be sure to check out the new cryptic poster below released on the Daredevil Twitter page.
