Earlier today, Veronica Mars writer-director Rob Thomas hit the Comic-Con 2013 stage with cast members such as Kristen Bell, Francis Capra, Tina Majorino, and more. The filmmaker revealed that there are only two days of shooting left on the Kickstarter-funded movie that will be distributed by Warner Bros. next summer. Although the project came together in an unconventional way, for a studio-distributed movie that is, Rob Thomas revealed he hopes it's just the beginning.

"I want to be a (James) Bond franchise. We want the film to be the start of something. We made an incredibly ambitious low-budget movie. Every day we're racing against the clock."

While the writer-director wouldn't divulge any specific plot details, he compared the movie to The Godfather: Part III, where Kristen Bell's title character gets sucked back into a life she left behind.

"She has not worked as a private detective since the last time you saw her in Season 3. The story I wanted to tell is the story I think the fans want to see. This will be on my tombstone. I'm so proud of this show."

Tina Majorino, who reprises her role as Cindy 'Mac' Mackenzie from the Veronica Mars TV series, revealed she had always hoped this movie would happen.

"All of us really secretly hoped this would eventually happen. But I never got my hopes up because you never know. Our characters are seeing each other for the first time in years and we are all seeing each other for the first time in years."

Francis Capra, who returns as Eli "Weevil" Navarro, also expressed gratitude to come back.

"I thought I fell off the face of the planet. This brought me back to life again. You guys brought my family back."

We'll keep you posted as soon as footage surfaces from this highly-anticipated movie.
