William Zabka is currently training with the cast of Cobra Kai to prepare for Season 2. The Johnny Lawrence actor shared a picture of himself along with Martin Kove, Xolo Mariduena, Tanner Buchanan, and Jacob Bertrand on social media. At the end of July, YouTube Originals global head Susanne Daniels revealed that the writers were hard at work on crafting Season 2, noting that they wanted to have the show return as soon as possible.

In Cobra Kai, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles from The Karate Kid and the response has been pretty amazing so far. Both original stars have been hyped to revisit their old characters as middle-aged men with children of their own, training a new generation. In Zabka's social media pictures, it's obviously cool to see that Martin Kove is with the gang, but fans of the series will be just as happy to see Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz along with the main cast too. Hopefully this means that we'll get to see more of the mysterious Hawk in Season 2.

In addition to training and writing sessions, Cobra Kai is also in the middle of casting some new characters who have yet to be revealed. The YouTube Red series exceeded any expectations that the streaming platform ever dreamed of, according to Susanne Daniels. The first episode gained over 40 million views and the series was quickly binged by fans of The Karate Kid who couldn't stop watching the highly addictive show that balanced nostalgia and something new in a dramatic and comical way. By the end of the season in May, the series was the number one-rated premium streamed content on YouTube.

Obviously, YouTube Red renewed Cobra Kai for a second season immediately. However, the show's creators and cast were already planning for a return with the awesome cliffhanger of Season 1, when Martin Kove made an appearance. With Sensei John Kreese back on the scene, things are about to get a lot different for the second season, which may lead Johnny Lawrence back to his old ways. Towards the end of the season, Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka's Johnny Lawrence nearly buried the hatchet over some day drinking, but that all went out the window, and the arrival of Kreese isn't going to help matters.

As for now, there is no current release date set for Cobra Kai Season 2, but it's awesome to see that everybody involved with the series is so excited to get back to work. With training underway, it's only a matter of time before cameras start rolling again. William Zabka did not mention a production start date, but says that "S2 is on the launchpad," which is good enough for now.
