Starz has cancelled the Kelsey Grammer series Boss, which recently finished its Season 2 run.

The show revolved around Chicago Mayor Tom Kane, and has left many story threads hanging in the wind. Starz is in the process of planning a 2-hour movie alongside Lionsgate TV, owners of the series, which would bring the entire storyline built in the first two seasons to its proper conclusion.

Starz released the following statement in regards to the cancellation.

"After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with (a third season of) Boss. We remain proud of this award-winning show, its exceptional cast and writers, and are grateful to Kelsey Grammer, Farhad Safinia and our partners at Lionsgate TV."

The cancellation of Boss makes Spartacus the only Starz series to make it past two seasons, and that popular drama series ends its three season run in 2013.
