Vin Diesel and Chris Tucker have signed on to star in director Ang Lee's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. They join previously-announced cast members Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, Kristen Stewart, Ben Platt and newcomer Joe Alwyn as the title character. No details were given for Vin Diesel and Chris Tucker's characters.

The story centers on 19-year-old Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn) and his comrades from Bravo Company, who managed to survive after an ambush that was captured by U.S. news cameras. The soldiers are all brought home to take part in a promotional tour that culminates at halftime of the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving football game. What the rest of the American public doesn't know is that Billy and the surviving members of Bravo Company will be shipped back to fight in the war shortly after the holiday weekend. The plot unfolds during the football game itself, featuring flashbacks to Billy's heroism under fire.

Ang Lee is directing from a screenplay by Simon Beaufoy, based on the novel by Ben Fountain. The director is shooting the film in native 3D and in 4K, making use of the innovative new high frame rate technology. Production is scheduled to begin later this month. Vin Diesel can currently be seen in the global blockbuster Furious 7, and he will next be seen in The Last Witch Hunter, opening in theaters October 23. Chris Tucker last starred in the Oscar-nominated drama Silver Linings Playbook.
