With Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron set to star in Paramount's big-screen adaptation of Baywatch, the studio is focusing its casting efforts on finding the female lead. Deadline reports that actresses Alexandra Daddario, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Benson, Alexandra Shipp, Shelley Hennig, Bianca A. Santos and Denyse Tontz are testing for the female lead role. No details were given for the character these actresses are reading for.

The site reports that it's possible the production may expand its search, and that some of these actresses may land other roles in the Baywatch movie. We may find out more very soon, since Paramount is aiming to start production in early 2016. Dwayne Johnson is set to play a rule-abiding lifeguard who is paired up with a young wild card (Zac Efron) as they team up to save their beach from environmental destruction caused by an oil tycoon. Dwayne Johnson revealed in August that the movie is definitely R rated.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay most recently written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (Friday the 13th). Justin Malen (Bad Teacher 2) wrote the original draft of the script, with Dwayne Johnson also producing alongside Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman. This adaptation is said to be much more comedic and action-heavy than the original Baywatch TV series, which ran for 11 seasons between 1989 and 2001, spanning 243 episodes.

If Alexandra Daddario lands the female lead, she will reunite with Dwayne Johnson and producer Beau Flynn after their summer blockbuster San Andreas. The actress recently starred in Burying the Ex, and she will next be seen in The Layover and The Choice. Nina Dobrev is coming off a six-season stint on The CW's The Vampire Diaries. She recently starred on the big screen in The Final Girls and the upcoming Arrivals.

Ashley Benson is coming off her role as Lady Lisa in this summer's Pixels, and she is also attached to star in Chronically Metropolitan. Alexandra Shipp was featured in Straight Outta Compton, and she will next be seen in the superhero sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, portraying a younger version of Storm. Shelley Hennig is coming off the thriller Unfriended, while Bianca A. Santos recently starred in The DUFF and Denyse Tontz is best known for her work on Big Time Rush. Which of these actresses would you like to see as the female lead in Baywatch?
