Many DC fans were ecstatic to learn that Ruby Rose had been cast as Kate Kane, aka Batwoman in the CW's Arrowverse. However, there were a lot of "fans" who were upset that Rose was cast as the openly gay superhero, with some going as far as to criticize the network for hiring a straight actress to portray the lesbian Kate Kane character, without knowing that the Australian actress came out as gay when she was 12-years old. Increasing negativity caused Rose to completely delete her Twitter account.

Before fully deleting her account, Ruby Rose struck back with a powerful message to all of the haters on the social media platform. In the now-deleted message, Rose wonders where the story came out that she is not gay, and then talked about being criticized for being "too gay." In the end, the actress just wants everybody in the LGBTQ community to come out and support each other. She had this to say.

"Where on earth did Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be Batwoman come from -- has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with she's too gay, how do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys. When women and when minorities join forces, we are unstoppable... when we tear each other down it's much more hurtful than from any group. But hey/ love a challenge I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more, My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other... Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it's been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially. If you need me, I'll be on my Bat phone."

The Ruby Rose casting as Batwoman didn't end with the gay factor. Other fans bashed the CW for not hiring a Jewish actress to take on the role of Kate Kane while others commented on Rose's acting abilities, stating that she's not a good enough actress to portray Batwoman. In the end, Rose simply deleted her Twitter account and then set her Instagram account to only let people that she knows comment on her pictures.

The casting of Ruby Rose as Batwoman was made last week, and the actress revealed that it had always been a childhood dream of hers to play the character. In a recent talk show appearance, Rose said that her mom had bats around the house when she was growing up. They were family pets, and Rose loved them so much that she fashioned some bat wings out of cardboard, which became her favorite toy. Additionally, her mother even has a Batman tattoo.

Ruby Rose is the latest actress to delete her social media account due to toxic fandom. The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran recently deleted her Instagram account over sexist and racist comments that took over her page. Fellow Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley also deleted her social media accounts, declaring that it was bad for mental health. Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown recently deleted her social media accounts as well. While Rose's account is now gone, she will remain Batwoman on The CW.
