Less than a month after the full cast for the FX series The Bastard Executioner was revealed, series creator Kurt Sutter took to his Instagram page today to show off the official logo. For fans of his last series, Sons of Anarchy, The Bastard Executioner will be quite a departure, set in medieval England during King Edward I's reign between 1272 and 1307 A.D. While you certainly shouldn't expect any motorcycles on this series, it will surely still retain the gritty edge that Kurt Sutter is known for.

The series follows a warrior knight in King Edward I's charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all. Australian actor Lee Jones leads the ensemble cast as this warrior named Wilkin Brattle, with a supporting cast that includes Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Kurt Sutter, Sam Spruell, Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, Sarah Sweeney and guest star Matthew Rhys.

Kurt Sutter wrote the pilot script and will executive produce alongside Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Paris Barclay, who will direct the first episode. Production on the pilot is scheduled to begin March 19 in Wales. Do you think Kurt Sutter's new series could be FX's next big hit?
