Colton Haynes Returning to Arrow Season 5 Earlier Than Expected?
If you aren't caught up with Season 4 of Arrow quite yet, there will be plenty of SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk. The end of this most current season brought a lot of changes to Star City, with the death of Katie Cassidy's Black Canary. The Comic-Con trailer revealed that Team Arrow will have a few new members when it returns this fall. It was also confirmed a few months ago that another fan-favorite character, Colton Haynes' Roy Harper, will be back. Now it seems his return will be sooner than expected.
Colton Haynes revealed during France's Justice Squad convention in May that he gets to return for "a few episodes of Arrow" this season, but it wasn't said when exactly he'll be back. The DC MediaVerse Facebook discovered new photos that series star Echo Kellum posted on Snapchat, which feature Colton Haynes on the set. Since production recently got under way on Season 5, this may mean thhe could appear in one of the first few episodes, but that hasn't been confirmed.
Colton Haynes made quite the surprising exit as Arsenal towards the end of Season 3, when he posed as Arrow to take the fall for Oliver Queen, faked his own death in prison, and left Star City. The producers revealed that the door was open for him to return in Season 4, and he did just that in the 12th episode, Unchained. While we don't know the details of his return, it seems likely that Roy Harper/Arsenal will be stepping up in the absence of other Team Arrow members.
Despite being killed in Season 4, Katie Cassidy will return in the Season 5 premiere of Arrow, which was confirmed at Comic-Con. It was also revealed that she signed a deal similar to Wentworth Miller, that allows her to become a series regular on Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Still, since Black Canary presumably won't be around as much, the Comic-Con trailer gave us our first look at some of Team Arrow's newest members, Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin), along with Echo Kellum's Curtis Holt.
The trailer also gave us our first look at this season's villain, Prometheus, along with a scene that featured Laurel making Oliver a promise on her death bed. Series star Stephen Amell revealed in a Comic-Con interview after the panel that this promise, "will have a lasting impact not just in our season premiere, but over the next couple seasons of the show." Take a look at the Snapchat photos with Echo Kellum and Colton Haynes from the set of Arrow Season 5.
