Last week, Warner Bros. unveiled the first look at Amber Heard in her full costume as Mera in the highly-anticipated Justice League movie, which recently wrapped production. After that movie hits theaters on November 17, 2017, Mera will return alongside Jason Momoa in the highly-anticipated Aquaman, which arrives on July 27, 2018. Aquaman director James Wan recently spoke about the Mera first look, teasing that their appearance in Justice League is just the beginning. Here's what he had to say below.

"I think Amber and Jason Momoa, in their moments in Justice League, [are] going to give the rest of the world a flavor of what their own standalone movie could be. And that is just scratching the surface of what I plan to do."

Entertainment Tonight caught up with James Wan at the Australians in Film Awards Gala, where he was honored with the Fox Studios Australia International Award. We reported last month that James Wan will start production on Aquaman next summer, and while he wouldn't offer any specific plot details, he did tease the tone he's going for. Take a look at what the filmmaker had to say, comparing his approach to two classic films.

"I kind of don't want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I'm going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone.

As of now, only Jason Momoa and Amber Heard are confirmed for Aquaman, but we recently reported that the villain will be the DC Comics character Black Manta, with Michael K. Williams saying he wants to play this character. Since we still have several months until production gets under way, it may still be quite some time before this character is cast. In the meantime, take a look at James Wan's video interview below where he discusses Aquaman.
