It has long been reported that, at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Justice League will be introduced, as Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) unite with The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Along with Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2, each of these heroes will get their own stand alone movies between 2016 and 2020, although there is very little we know about any of those projects thus far. Jason Momoa recently appeared at Dallas Comic Con, where he revealed that he has been studying New 52 Aquaman comics, in preparation for this stand alone movie.

"So, there's not really a lot of spoilers I can give away. But the research I've done on the New 52 stuff with Geoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he's amazing. He's got a lot of powers. He's extremely tough. He's super strong. But I'm excited about... there's a big beautiful map laid out and I wish I could carry it with me. It'll come out soon enough and you'll see just how big it's going to be."

This is the first we've heard about Aquaman being based on the New 52 comics, but you may recall that the new Suicide Squad logo teased a direct connection to the New 52 comic books. The Aquaman New 52 comics were overseen by Geoff Johns himself, with the 16-issue run leading to the crossover series Throne of Atlantis, which was adapted into the animated movie Justice League: Throne of Atlantis released earlier this year. It remains to be seen what aspects of the New 52 comics will actually be adapted into the Aquaman movie.

It was announced in June that James Wan is directing, and overseeing the screenplay written by Kurt Johnstad. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder are producing, but it isn't known when principal photography may begin. Warner Bros. has already set a July 27, 2018 release date for Aquaman, and we already got our first look at Jason Momoa as the iconic character in a photo that Zack Snyder released back in February. The actor has teased that fans may get to see a more traditional orange and green costume, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Another report surfaced in June, which revealed that Aquaman will be seen in Suicide Squad. This report claimed that Aquaman is being held in Waller's prison, where he is being "studied and tested on." He was reportedly caught after an epic fight with none other than iconic DC Villain King Shark (Raymond Olubawale), described as a mutant shark, who is being held in the same prison. There was another rumor that King Shark is in a special area in the basement of this prison, reserved for those with superhuman abilities, which is where Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) is believed to be held as well. While we wait for more details on Aquaman, check out the Dallas Comic Con video below, with the Aquaman talk starting at the 9:00 minute mark.
