Supernatural and Revolution creator Eric Kripke is developing a new comic book series entitled Amped for Vertigo Comics, while simultaneously developing the same property as a TV series for the USA Network. The six-issue monthly comic book series will debut sometime this fall, following a neurotic family man named Josh Jaffe, who tries to get out of a rut by purchasing an online "smart pill" to increase his focus. Much to his surprise, the pill gives him super-human strength, as the show examines the highs and lows of transforming into a superhero. Here's what Vertigo executive editor Shelly Bond said in a statement

"Eric has such a clever, irreverent cadence which makes him a natural writer for the Vertigo line. Amped promises to be as addictive as its title substance."

Eric Kripke also offered the following statement.

"Pretty much everything I've ever written has been insanely influenced by Vertigo, so it's a dream come true to write my first comic there. Amped is a project I'm foaming-at-the-mouth passionate about - and it's also the most personal, warts-and-all story I've ever told. So I'm having the time of my life writing the comic - and basing the TV series off the comic, too. I can't wait for readers to read it- and then down the road, for watchers to watch it."

USA Network announced the development of Amped at their annual upfront presentation today, based on the comic book series. Eric Kripke is writing the comic book series while creating and executive producing the TV series for Warner Horizon Television and Eric Kripke's Kripke Enterprises. Stay tuned for more details on Amped as the project moves forward in development.
