Tremors TV Show Shoots Next Month, Plot Revealed

By Ryan Scott — October 6th, 2017

The Tremors TV series is really happening, everyone. Kevin Bacon is finally reprising his role as Valentine McKee from the original 1990 classic in the new show, which is easily the number one reason people are excited about it. Now, we have word that the series will begin shooting next month in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Albuquerque Journal reveals that the production will begin at the end of October and will continue through November. As it stands, SyFy has only officially ordered a pilot for the series, so it is likely that they will just film the pilot during that time. If the network decides to pick up the series, they'll head back to shoot the rest. The publication also revealed the first, full synopsis for the series, which will set the series up to be a more direct sequel to the original Tremors movie. Here's the synopsis for the Tremors TV series.

"Tremors will take fans of the acclaimed 1990 film back to Perfection, Nev., where, 25 years after Valentine McKee, played by Kevin Bacon, defeated the Graboids, the man who once seemed destined for greatness is anything but. He's a small-town hero whose glory days faded away with the monsters he braved and whose family moved on when he couldn't let go of the past. And yet McKee's hoping that everything's about to change. His grown daughter coming to visit on the heels of her graduation could signal a permanent homecoming. But no sooner than she arrives, strange and terrifying events make it clear the town is in danger. Led by McKee, the gang from Perfection begins to uncover the spine-chilling truth of what's hunting them. With the future looking darker than ever, these small-town heroes must shake off the dust of years to see what they're made of."

Emily Tremaine was recently cast to play the role of Kevin Bacon's daughter in the series, but we've yet to see a full casting breakdown. Maybe SyFy will be able to bring in some more of the original cast as well. Since Bacon hasn't reprised his role as Valentine McKee in any of the Tremors sequels, it is possible that SyFy can find a way to have this show exist alongside the sequels as well. With Tremors 6 also set to arrive in May of 2018, that might not be the worst way to go about it, assuming they can make it work. In any case, this sounds like everything one might want from a Tremors TV show. Get ready to see Kevin Bacon blowing up Graboids again.

The Tremors pilot is written by showrunner Andrew Miller, who is also producing the series alongside Kevin Bacon. SyFy has yet to announce a premiere date for the show yet, but we'll likely learn more after they get the pilot shot and in the can. Tremors was set up at Amazon last year, but Syfy issued the pilot order this past June, and Amazon is not involved at this time. Albuquerque Journal made no mention of a premiere date, but we can assume it will debut next year.
