Barry Returns in The Flash Season 4 Extended Trailer

By Ryan Scott — September 19th, 2017

Barry Allen may have disappeared into the abyss of the Seed Force at the end of The Flash Season 3, but he couldn't manage to stay gone for long. That is evidenced by this brand new trailer for The Flash season 4, which focuses on the team bringing back Barry Allen to help save the city from some new, emerging threats. We also get a tease to Barry's brand new and improved suit, which he'll be donning next season as he does his best to do away with these new bad guys.

The CW has released this extended trailer for The Flash season 4 just a few weeks ahead of the show's return on Tuesday, October 10. It bares some similarities to the first full trailer that was released during San Diego Comic-Con, but this time around, it focuses a lot more on the drama that is going to surround bringing Barry back. Iris, as one might expect, isn't giving up on Barry, but some feel like it's time to move on. But when some new bad guys come to town demanding to fight The Flash, there's only one man for the job. And he has a beard now.

The Flash season 4 has plenty in store for Barry Allen to deal with. Neil Sandilands is set to play The Thinker this season, who is going to be the main villain. This was previously teased by Abra Kadabra last season. Some other new additions include Danny Trejo (Machete) as Breacher, who is the father of Gypsy (Jessica Camacho). Kim Engelbrecht will also be coming on board as the Mechanic, who plays the right hand to the Thinker. We also recently found out that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) is going to be a season regular as the villain Blacksmith. The Flash season 4 definitely isn't going to rely on speedster villains, as promised.

Returning to The Flash this season is Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West, John Wesley Shipp and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West. During Barry Allen's absence, it seems like Wally West is doing his best to keep the city safe as the resident Speedster. At one point, some fans speculated he would maybe be taking over as the new lead for at least part of The Flash season 4. Instead, he's still going to play second fiddle to Barry.

The Arrowverse has been a massive success on The CW and, even though Arrow was the original, The Flash really has become the flagship DC series on the network. It looks like we could be in for a really emotional and interesting new season with some stuff we've never seen from the series so far.
