Yesterday, we reported that pop icon Mariah Carey has signed on as a new judge on American Idol for Season 12. There is still one vacancy left to fill at the judges table, that may be filled by country music star Brad Paisley.

Fox is reportedly "seriously considering" the singer, although it isn't known if an offer has been made yet. Brad Paisley has performed on the show before, and has relationships with past American Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery, both of whom are country singers. The show's biggest competitive threat, NBC's The Voice, also has a representative from the country music genre with judge Blake Shelton.

Earlier this month, we reported that Randy Jackson may be leaving the judges table as well. That doesn't seem to be the case now, as he is expected to return. Fox is also toying with the idea of a four-judge panel, since both The Voice and The X Factor feature a quartet of judges.
